prickly pear seed oil
Prickly pear seed oil (Opuntia oil, Barbary fig seed oil) is one of the rarest oils in the world — Opuntia ficus indica
Out of stock
Cold pressed from the seeds of the prickly pear cactus, this is one of the world’s rarest oils. It takes a thousand kilos of prickly pear fruit to produce one kilo of oil from the seeds.
Apply sparingly to skin, hair or nails. The oil penetrates easily and leaves little residue. Dilute with other quality oils, e.g. argan oil, as desired, or use neat. The oil is good, in particular, for bags under the eyes. Only small amounts are needed.
DNA analysis indicates the plant was domesticated from Opuntia species native to central Mexico. It has now spread to many parts of the world, including the Mediterranean and North Africa.
Known also as Barbary fig seed oil, Opuntia oil, Opuntia seed oil, Indian fig opuntia oil, Cactus pear seed oil and Fig opuntia oil. Botanical name: Opuntia ficus indica.
Our Prickly pear seed oil is refined and odourless and comes in a 10ml glass roll-on. We hold only limited stock.
